Talking about GLADIOLUS

A hardy mediterranean gladiolus which does not need any cosseting, Gladiolus communis produces bright, brash magenta flowers on top of long stems, giving strong, rich colour at about waist height. It gradually spreads to form large clumps, and makes a terrific show in the middle rank of the border. The flowers are good for cutting. Plant the corns in the autumn in free-draining soil where they get a chance to bake over summer. In areas suffering bad winter frosts, it benefits from a thick, protective winter mulch.

Eu costumo pôr uma batatinha em cada um daqueles vasos cuja planta é só verdura. Depois quando floresce dá um efeito lindo. Na altura passada tive uma pata de cavalo e uma hera a darem flores de gladiolo. Adorei o efeito á distância!!
